O Lord, Our Lord

Luke 22:19-20

Jesus took a piece of bread, gave thanks to GOD, borke it, and gave it to His disciples, saying, “This is My body, which is given for you.  Do this in memory of Me.”

In the same way, He gave them the cup after the supper, saying, “This cup is GOD’s new covenant sealed with My blood, which is poured out for you.”

Psalm 8:1-9

O LORD, our LORD!

Your greatness is seen in all the world!

Your praise reaches up to the heavens; it is sung by children and babies.

You are safe and secure from all your enemies! you stop anyone who opposes You.

When I look at the sky, which you have made, at the moon and the stars, which You set in their places-

What are human beings that You think of them;

Yet You made them inferior only to Yourself; You crowned them with glory and honor.

You appointed them rulers over everything You made;

You placed them over all cration: sheep and cattle, and the wild animals too; the birds and the fish and the creatures in the seas.

O LORD, our LORD,

Your greatness is seen in all the world!

Hebrews 7: 21, 24-28

“The LORD has made a solemn promise and will not take it back: ‘You will be a priest forever.'”

Jesus lives forever, and His work as priest does not pass on to someone else.

He is able, now and always, to save those who come to GOD through Him, because He lives forever to plead with GOD for them.

Jesus is the High Priest that meets our needs.  He is holy; He has no fault or sin on Him; He has been set apart from sinners and raised above the heavens.

He is not like other High Priests; He does not need to offer sacrifices every day for His own sins first and then for the sins of the people.  He offered one sacrifice, once and for all, when He offered himself.

The Law of Moses appoints men who are imperfect to be High Preist; but GOD’s promise made with the vow, which came later than the law, appoints the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

Hebrew 8: 1-2

We have such a High Priest, who sits at the right of the Throne of the Divine Majesty in heaven.

He serves as High Priest in the most Holy Place, that is, in the real tent which was put up by the LORD, not by human hands.

Hebrews 8: 8, 10-12

“The days are coming when I will draw up a new covenant…

Now, this is the covenant that I will make…

I will put my laws in their minds and on their hearts.  I will be their GOD, and they will be My people.  None of them will have to teach their friends or their neighbors, ‘Know the LORD.’ For they will know Me from the least to the greatest.  I will forgive their sins and I will no longer remember their wrongs.”

Amen.
