God’s Promises

Genesis 9: 8-17

GOD said to Noah and his sons, ” I am now making my covenant with you and with your descendants, and with all living beings- all birds and all animals everything that came out of the boat with you.

With these words I make my covenant with you:  I promise that never again with all living beings be destroyed by a flood; never again will a flood destroy the earth.

As a sign of this everlasting covenant which I am making with you, and with all living beings, I am putting my bow in the clouds.  It will be the sign of my covenant with the world.

Whenever I cover the sky with clouds and the rainbow appear, I will remember my promise to you that a flood will never again destroy all living beings.

That is the sign of the promise which I am making to all living beings.

Genesis 12: 1-4

The LORD said to Abram, “Leave your country, your relatives, and your father’s home, and go to a land that I am going to show you.

I will give you many descendants, and they will become a great nation.  I will bless you and make your name famous, so that you will be a blessing.

I will bless those who bless you, But I will curse those who curse you.  And through you I will bless all the nations.”

Genesis 35: 1-3, 10-13

GOD said to Jacob, ” Go to Bethel at once, and live there.  Build an altar there for me.”

Jacob said to his family, ” We are going to leave here and go to Bethel, where I will build an altar to the GOD who helped me in the time of my trouble and who has been with me everywhere I have gone.”

GOD appeared to him again and blessed him.  “Your name is Jacob, but from now on it will be Israel.”  So GOD named him Israel.

I am Almighty GOD.  Have many children.  Nations will be descended from you and you will be the ancestor of kings.

I will give you the land which I gave to Abraham and to Isaac, and I will also give it to your descendants after you.

Deuteronomy 6: 4-5, 7-9

Israel, remember this! The LORD- and the LORD alone- is our GOD.  Love the LORD your GOD with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

Teach them to your children.  Repeat them when you are at home and when you are away, when you are resting and when you are working.  Tie them on your arms and wear them on your foreheads as a reminder.  Write them on the doorposts of your homes and on your gates.

Deuteronomy 11: 26-28

Today, I am giving you the choice between a blessing and a curse- a blessing, if you obey the commands of the LORD your GOD, but a curse, if you disobey His commands and turn away to worship other gods that you have never worshiped before.

Joshua 1: 5-7

Joshua, no one will be able to defeat you as long as you live.  I will be with you as I was with Moses.  I will always be with you.  I will never abandon you.  Be determined and confident, for you will be the leader of these people.

Make sure that you obey the whole Law that my servant Moses gave you.  Do not neglect any part of it and you will succeed wherever you go.

Psalm 89: 3-4

You said, I have made a covenant with the man I chose; I have promised my servant David, A descendant of yours will always be king; I will preserve your dynasty forever.

Psalm 23: 1-4

The LORD is my shepherd; I have everything I need.

He lets me rest in fields of green grass and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water.

He gives me new strength.

He guides me in the right paths, as he has promised.

Even if I go through the deepest darkness, I will not be afraid, LORD, for you are with me.

Your shepherd’s rod and staff protect me.

Amen.
